The California Association of Realtors put out a very interesting article this week about mortgage updates and other up to date information on real estate in the state. The article discusses some of the current real estate trends and issues with purchasing homes in today’s market.
There are a number of other articles worth reading in this issue including a Wall Street Journal article on whether or not buyers should purchase condos, a San Francisco Chronicle article discussing the current short sale market, a Los Angeles Times article on expected foreclosures, and other general information on national real estate.

Lake Tahoe/Truckee Real Estate Stats

The real estate numbers for the Truckee/Tahoe area are certainly up. 87 single family homes sold during the month of September! With 87 sold homes out of 999 active homes, the absorption rate is just around 9% which is not too bad. 28 condos sold in September. The majority of the sold homes were in the $300K-$499K price range with 32 total homes selling. 12 homes sold for $299K or less, 22 homes sold in the $500K-$699K range, and 12 in the $700K-$899K.
Some of the best numbers for last month’s sales was the influx in sales over $1 million with 10 homes selling in this range!
